history

The company was founded in 1990 as a private company and has several international branches. Her main focus is on the development and sale of complex technical diagnostic systems for clinical use in ophthalmology . The focus is on the examination of the retina , cornea and the early detection and follow-up of glaucoma ( glaucoma ). Between 1991 and 2006, a whole range of innovative diagnostic solutions were brought to market maturity in these areas, including in the area of scanning laser ophthalmoscopy and optical coherence tomography . Another business area is the development of perimetry systems for visual field examinations. In particular , Heidelberg Engineering GmbH has established the further development of imaging processes and the possibility of extensive data analysis in the medical technology market .
