Heideweg is a district in the Hand district of Bergisch Gladbach .

history

The name Heideweg was based on an old settlement name, which is documented as Heyden for the year 1699 . In the original cadastre , the settlement is recorded as Auf der Heide in the area of ​​today's road. A small hamlet had developed here by the 18th century . It consisted of three farms. Between 1920 and 1928 the settlement was renamed Heideweg because a connecting road between Dellbrücker Straße and Mühlenstraße runs through it.

etymology

The field and settlement name Heide referred to the characteristics of the vegetation of the heather sand strip with heather herbs . A heather is usually a barren area covered with gorse , heather and bushes.
