The Association of Magazine Publishers in Bavaria (VZB) is a registered association based in Munich . Print publishers, digital companies and service providers for everything to do with the magazine industry have organized themselves into the business association. The VZB is one of the five supporting associations of the VDZ ( Association of German Magazine Publishers ) in Berlin.

History and tasks

The VZB was founded on November 15, 1948 in Munich. The association represents the entrepreneurial interests of magazine publishers in Bavaria and promotes its members in non-material, cultural and professional respects. The association advises its members on publishing issues and is responsible for its collective bargaining members as an employers' association. Around 90 publishers and media houses have organized themselves in the association, which together publish around 450 magazines.

Initial and continuing education

Together with the Bavarian Journalists' Association (BJV) and the Association of Bavarian Newspaper Publishers (VBZV), the VZB runs the "Academy of the Bavarian Press", which as an institute offers comprehensive advanced training for journalists and media professionals in Bavaria. Together with the Reading Foundation , VZB and its member publishers are designing the “Magazines in Bavarian Schools” initiative.

Prizes and awards

Together with the Bavarian State Government and other media associations, the VZB awards the “ Bavarian Print Media Prize ” every year at the Munich Media Days , which is awarded to exceptional publishing achievements. The “ Jakob Fugger Medal ” is awarded by the VZB to outstanding personalities and historical merits for the freedom and further development of the magazine industry. Prize winners included a. Hubert Burda (2007), Reinhard Mohn (2000) and Golo Mann (1982).

Waltraut von Mengden has been the first chairwoman since 2012 , Anina Veigel is the managing director.
