|
Diepeschrath or Diepeschrather Mühle is a district in the Hand district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The name Diepeschrath was used as a place name as early as 1820 and was retained with the emergence of street names for the Diepeschrath mill with its access road. The old name Diepeschrath recorded the Urkataster in the form Debischrott . The early medieval Hofgründung was attached a grinding mill. In 1356 it was named Depiltzrode as the fiefdom of the Paffrather Fronhof . The farm, which had ten residents in 1858, was converted into a restaurant and excursion destination in the 20th century under the name Diepeschrather Mühle .
etymology
The basic word rath (= clearing) refers to an original clearing. The identifier, which has changed several times over the years, is likely to be the personal name Dietbald or the family name Dieper .
