The Mutzbach nature reserve extends in the Hand district of Bergisch Gladbach between Diepeschrath and Diepeschrather Weg as far as the city limits of Cologne . From here there is a seamless connection to the Oberer Mutzbach nature reserve in Cologne's urban area . The Mutzbach nature reserve is part of the Bergische Heideterrasse .

vegetation

The protection designation takes place for the maintenance and development of a near-natural, alder -lined brook (the Mutzbach ), a wet alder floodplain forest with transitions to the alder forest and accompanying beech forests as well as a pond as an important habitat for amphibians .
