The Strundetal nature reserve stretches on both sides of the Strunde roughly between Gut Schiff and Lochermühle in the Herrenstrunden and Sand districts of Bergisch Gladbach . It is cut through on the valley floor by the Kürtener Straße. The area lies in the Paffrather Kalkmulde .

vegetation

The northern slope of the valley is partly characterized by old beech forests with different vegetation and soil properties. On the southern slope of the so-called Steinberg there is a beech forest rich in geophytes with pearl grasses in shady locations. To the north of Gut Schiff there is a lean grassland area on the slope .

Nature conservation serves in particular

• the maintenance and protection of rivers , alluvial forests , still waters , forests and bushes,
• securing the function as a biotope network area ,
• the preservation and development of the valley as a typical section of the Paffrath Kalkmulde landscape ,
• the preservation and development of the near-natural beaches and the accompanying riparian forests ,
• Preservation and development of the valley as a habitat for many endangered plant species, such as the orchid- lime beech forests,
• Preservation and development of the poor, species-rich hillside grassland,
• Preservation and development of several small quarries and outcrops as objects worthy of geoscientific protection,
• Preservation of the regional importance of the Strundet valley for recreation.
