The Dhünnaue near Hummelsheim

The Dhünnaue nature reserve (southern district) is located in the Schildgen district of Bergisch Gladbach . It covers the course of the Dhünn over a distance of around 900 m between the city limits of Odenthal in Hoverhof and the city limits of Leverkusen in Hummelsheim . The protected area continues to the east on the Odenthaler municipality area and is networked as a habitat with the water system of the Eifgenbach , which flows into the Dhünn in Altenberg .

vegetation

In the protected area, next to the water, there is a border of old woodland and a forest area with the character of an alluvial forest in places . Nature conservation refers to the protection, care and development of the communities of plants and animals that are bound to these habitats, as well as the protection of rare and endangered animal and plant species.

Fauna-Flora-Habitat (FFH)

Part of the nature reserve is also part of the FFH area Dhünn and Eifgenbach (area number DE-4809-301). These are mainly the adjacent bank areas.
