The Thielenbruch nature reserve is a nature reserve in the Hand district of Bergisch Gladbach . It is part of the Bergische Heideterrasse .
description
The protection designation took place in 1993 for the maintenance and development of the structurally rich and partly moist deciduous forest stands . It is particularly about the existing alder forests , rivers , green areas near settlement and the habitat of many endangered plant and animal species.
The Thielenbruch nature reserve consists of three sub-areas, one larger in the west and two smaller ones in the east, which are located on the southern city limits of Bergisch Gladbach. It represents the continuation of the Thielenbruch and Thurner Wald nature reserve immediately south of the city of Cologne .
On the western part of the area there is a birch pioneer forest and blackberry bushes rich in tall forbears . The middle part is the smallest and completely forested. The easternmost consists of a centrally located field wood and is surrounded by a partially fallow allotment garden. Furthermore, it contains a strip of grassland on its eastern edge, which is used as horse pasture. In the immediate vicinity of the nature reserve, there is a relatively dense development, the two eastern parts of the area in the Bergisch Gladbach area mostly border on settlement areas. The Thielenbruch nature reserve serves primarily as a buffer between the settlement areas and the Thielenbruch and Thuner Wald nature reserve and its extension to the north.
Fauna-Flora-Habitat (FFH)
The two eastern sub-areas lie within the FFH area Thielenbruch (area number DE-5008-301).
