Heike Friedrich (wheelchair basketball player)
Heike Friedrich (born June 14, 1976 in Berlin ) is a German wheelchair basketball player .
Friedrich played basketball at TuS Lichterfelde , Wild Cats Aschaffenburg, TV Langen and TV Hofheim and was a member of the national team for almost nine years. After a sports injury, she was operated on eight times and switched to wheelchair basketball, first with SG Aschaffenburg / Main-Kinzig, then with the Mainhatten Skywheelers .
In 2009 Friedrich won the title at the European Championship with the German national team in Great Britain . In 2010 she became vice world champion in Birmingham and European champion again in 2011 in Israel. At the Summer Paralympics 2012 in London , Friedrich won the gold medal with the German team.
In 2012, Federal President Joachim Gauck awarded Friedrich the Silver Laurel Leaf .
