Heike Maria Pöppelmann (born May 29, 1965 ) is a German archaeologist . Since October 2010 she has been head of the Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum .

Life

Heike Pöppelmann studied prehistory and early history , medieval history and geology at the Universities of Cologne and Bonn . In 1992 she achieved the Magister Artium degree , in 1997 she received her doctorate in Bonn with the thesis The late antique-early medieval grave field of Jülich, Kr. Düren . From 1992 to 1996 Pöppelmann was a research assistant at the Institute for Pre- and Protohistory at the University of Bonn, and in 1997 she became a research assistant at the institute. In 1997 she became a volunteer at the State Museum for Nature and Man in OldenburgIn 1998, as part of the exchange program for academic volunteers in the museum sector, she did a two-month internship at the Musée National des Antiquités Nationales in Saint-Germain-en-Laye . In 2000, Pöppelmann became a research assistant at the Magdeburg Cultural History Museum , where he was responsible for archeology. In 2010 she became director of the Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum.

Pöppelmann was involved in several important exhibitions, including 1999 across all fronts.
