Heiko Thomas (born September 13, 1969 in Wuppertal ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ).

Life

After graduating from a secondary school in Remscheid, Heiko Thomas learned the profession of gas and water fitter, which he practiced for almost eleven years.

On the second path of education he made up his Abitur to study theology. Theology became political science, economics and social work and education. Heiko Thomas began to get involved in politics as early as his student days.

From 1997 to 2002 he was in the Bundestag a . a. active as personal advisor to parliamentary group leader Kerstin Müller and as office manager of party chairman Claudia Roth . Heiko Thomas has lived in Berlin since 1999.

From 2002 he worked for the Federal Minister Renate Künast . From 2004 to 2007 he was employed as the head of the office of Parliamentary State Secretary Matthias Berninger .

In addition, Heiko Thomas was a visiting lecturer at the University of North Rhine-Westphalia - School of Governance in Essen-Duisburg for several years.

From 2007, Heiko Thomas dedicated himself to the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives as parliamentary group manager.

In the federal election campaign in 2009 , he ran as a Pankower direct candidate for election to the Bundestag .

Two years later, in the election for the Berlin House of Representatives from July to September 2011, he took over the office of state manager and campaign manager from Renate Künast. He then resigned from his position as managing director of the Berlin Green Group in order to move into the Berlin House of Representatives in November 2011.

Since then he has been active as the health and budgetary spokesman for the Greens. In April 2016 he left parliament, his successor was Alessa Berkenkamp .
