The health project HeileHaus eV in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg ( SO 36 ) was founded in 1981. It deals with health-promoting work based on naturopathy , which is particularly aimed at the socially disadvantaged.

concept

The concept of HeileHaus eV includes health promotion and health maintenance through the mediation of naturopathic methods by specialists. The possibilities for body work , exercise and basic hygiene are the main goals conveyed. Through information, motivation and the promotion of skills, the employees primarily aim at self-initiative and self-responsible handling of the body.

The activating offers are intended to counteract the consequences of poverty and unemployment , resignation , lack of prospects , malnutrition and lack of exercise , stress , aggression and drug abuse . The aim is to strengthen the body's own resources in terms of salutogenesis .

The employees try to adapt the offers of the HeileHaus eV to the individual and social changes through contact with the users. "Jointly developed projects and offers should encourage and motivate people to actively tackle the sick and aggressive living conditions instead of turning aggression against oneself or others."

history

In February 1981 the side wing, the summer house and a shop apartment at Waldemarstrasse 36 in Berlin-Kreuzberg were occupied. The occupied house was called the HeileHaus.

The occupants came from the environment of self-help and learning groups that had been dealing with naturopathic treatment of diseases for a long time. The exercise room, the hopping floor, the ambulance (today: health advice) and the bathing room were then completed, which were renovated again in 2013.

The bathing room and ambulance were initially contact points for people from occupied houses and the urban area who did not have their own baths. The house developed into a center for naturopathy, self-help , bodywork and political groups in Berlin. There was a network with other projects in the street ( Waldekiez , KOSMOS! Etc.) The newspaper Doktorspiele published by the association dealt with diseases that were common in Kreuzberg in the 1980s, e.g. B. scabies , head lice , impetigo contagiosa , hepatitis A and other diseases. She provided instructions for protection and self-treatment with simple means.

Work by and with volunteers in health advice

The volunteer advisors are trained in various areas of naturopathy. Regular supervision and working groups take place. In principle, no user data is collected and health insurance is not required. The advice is free. If necessary, those seeking advice can be referred to other facilities or advice centers.

The range of health advice includes: kinesiology , nutritional counseling , homeopathy , herbal medicine , Bach flower therapy , eye diagnosis , bodywork, Craniosacral Therapy , reflexology , cupping , Chinese medicine , smoking , fasting courses and massages .

Funding and memberships

The HeileHaus eV is partially financed by the State Office for Health and Social Affairs Berlin (LaGeSo), as the authority of the public health service , and is dependent on donations . For example, the financing for the construction of a natural gas-powered combined heat and power plant in the club house was subsidized by the German Lottery Foundation in Berlin with 60,000 euros.

The HeileHaus is a member of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband Landesverband Berlin eV and a member of the Neukölln Beekeeping Association, Berlin.

In the roof garden of the HeileHaus eV, urban horticulture and a hobby beekeeping are operated on a small scale . In autumn, the bees are offered an infusion of wild herbs from the area with the winter feed as compensation feeding. The honey is thrown by hand in the HeileHaus and bottled by hand. Due to the loyalty to the location, this beekeeping is also sustainable because the bees are not driven for miles or energy-consuming to the costumes . Thus the cohesion and orientation of the peoples is not disturbed. The bees collect flower nectar in Berlin parks, on kilometers of green ribbons along the railway lines, on the Spree and the waterways, on tree-lined avenues and on the large areas with Berlin allotment garden colonies. Bee products are used for healing purposes as part of apitherapy .
