Holy Spirit Church (Regensburg)
The Heilig-Geist-Kirche is a Catholic church in the northeast of Regensburg . It is located at Isarstrasse 54.
history
The population growth in the north-east of Regensburg in the post-war period made it necessary to build a church . An area of St. Josef (Regensburg- Reinhausen ) was separated on September 1, 1969 and the chaplain at the time, Karl Heidingsfelder, was commissioned to found a new parish. As early as January 11, 1970, services could be celebrated in the hall of the Land Consolidation Directorate. The construction of the community center was planned by Otto Rausch and on April 27 the construction project began with the construction of the ancillary rooms. After the inauguration of the first construction phase on February 28, 1971, the foundation stone of the church was laid by Karl Flügel on October 17 . At the same time, the community was raised to the status of an independent parish "Holy Spirit". The building was completed from 1971 to 1972 as a community center with a church, community hall and parish apartment. The pyramid-shaped church was consecrated on May 14, 1972 by Rudolf Graber .
On March 21st, the construction of the previously missing church tower began according to a plan by Otto Rausch. The free-standing bell tower was completed in October. In the next year a bell was installed.
The community currently forms a pastoral care unit with St. Michael Regensburg-Keilberg.
Furnishing
The artistically designed church windows by Willi Ulfig , which symbolize the Whitsun miracle in red and blue colors, look particularly good due to the simple furnishings . A semicircular arrangement of the pews enables the worshipers to gather close to the altar . The choir area adjoins the raised altar island, which is illuminated with natural daylight through a light shaft in the rising ceiling construction . There is centrally game table the organ placed. The bronze stele dates from 1971 and was made by Karl Reidel .
In the east there is a weekday church for smaller forms of worship. There is a Madonna from the 16th century and the bronze cross by Karl Reidel.
organ
The two-manual organ comes from Guido Nenninger and was created by Eberhard Kraus based on a disposition draft. It has electric action and a three-part free pipe prospectus . After an unspecified renovation, it currently has the following disposition:
