The nature reserve Wiembachtal and Seitensiefen is a nature reserve in the town of Burscheid in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

description

The nature reserve Wiembachtal and Seitensiefen consists of three self-contained areas. The westernmost part is between Heidberg and Im Schümich . Here is a near-natural side depth of the Wiembach . This is followed north of Dürscheid by the second part in the so-called Dürscheid meadows, with meadows and pastures used to varying degrees . The third and largest part extends from the Dürscheider mill to the west to the Geilenbacher meadows to the east . These are semi-natural mixed deciduous forest stands accompanying the slope as well as alluvial forests , wet and wet grassland areas. At the Lambertsmühle there are flat wetlands as well as younger red alder trees to the west - alluvial forest , some with pronounced spring meadows .

Protection goals

The area is used to maintain, develop and restore a richly structured brook valley with a largely natural brook as well as natural unspoilt side depths, wet and wet grassland areas with sedges and rushes-rich wet meadows as well as near-natural alluvial forests accompanying water , as a habitat for endangered and rare animal and plant species or Plant communities, protected. The following protection purposes are specified in detail:

  • Preservation and securing of near-natural, unspoilt flowing water , near-natural, unspoilt side depressions , wet and wet grassland with sedge and rush-rich wet meadows as well as near-natural riparian forests that accompany water,
  • Securing the function as a biotope connection area of outstanding importance with connection areas and connecting elements
  • Preservation and development of the landscape in its special character, rarity and outstanding beauty,
  • Protection, care and development of near-natural, undeveloped flowing waters, near-natural undeveloped side depths, wet and wet grassland with sedge and rush-rich wet meadows, as well as natural alluvial forests accompanying the waterways, as well as location-adapted, characteristic and rare animal and plant species.
