Holy Family (Rimou)
The Holy Family window in the Notre-Dame Catholic Church in Rimou , a French parish in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in the Brittany region , was created by Atelier Rault in 1934. The stained glass window was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1995 as Monument historique .
Window No. 3 was donated by the parishioners and some external benefactors (see inscription at the bottom center).
The illustration shows the Holy Family in the carpentry workshop of Joseph . He works with a plane on a workbench and in front of it the baby Jesus practices with a frame saw . To Joseph's left sits Mary with a hand spindle . The whole representation is embedded in a fantasy architecture with two domed structures , pillars on the right and left frame the picture.
The lower edge of the picture, strongly separated from the main scene, shows the processional cross of the Notre-Dame church from the 16th century, which is also classified as a monument historique. Bread can be seen on the left and right.
The two windows of the Annunciation and the Coronation of Mary in the Church of Notre-Dame are also classified as Monument historique. They come from the same workshop.
