Reliefs of saints in Atterstrasse 25

The reliefs of saints in Aiterbach on the upper gable of a house in Atterstraße 25 of the Aiterbach district of the Allershausen municipality in the Freising district are mortar sculptures that are more common in Upper Bavaria and are labeled "1891".

The following are shown from left to right:

  • Saint Martin cutting off part of a beggar's cloak while his horse rears up,
  • St. Mary with the baby Jesus , who is presumably holding a lily in her left hand
  • St. George stabbing a dragon.

Josef Bogner says of St. Mary: “The gable fronts of residential buildings and individual barns carry the image of St. here and there (Aiterbach, etc.). Maria with the child in one hand, with a handkerchief, lily or palm branch in the other, and in it the old Bavarian devotion to Mary returns. "

The house was renovated in 2017; There is not much left to see of the old house on a farm. The mortar sculptures, which have probably been refreshed in color, are protected parts of an architectural monument with the file number D-1-78-113-9 of the BLfD.
