Heilwig von Holstein (* 1400 ; † 1436 ) was Countess of Oldenburg and mother of Christian I , the first king of the Oldenburg line .
Life
Heilwig von Holstein was a daughter of Gerhard VI. von Holstein-Rendsburg (* around 1367, † August 4, 1404) and Elisabeth von Braunschweig as well as a maternal granddaughter of Magnus II. von Braunschweig-Lüneburg . Heilwig was a sister of Adolf , who took over the upbringing of her sons after her early death.
On November 23, 1423 Heilwig von Holstein and Dietrich von Oldenburg married . The following children were born out of the marriage:
- Adelheid (* 1425; † 1475) - married to 1st Ernst III, Count von Hohnstein († 1454) and 2nd Gebhard VI. von Mansfeld († 1492)
- Christian I. (* 1426; † 1481), Count of Oldenburg ; King of Denmark , Sweden , Norway ; Duke of Schleswig and Holstein
- Moritz III. (* 1428; † 1464), Count of Delmenhorst
- Gerhard the Brave (* 1430; † 1500), Count of Oldenburg and Delmenhorst
