The Heimatmuseum Ronnenberg is a local museum in the town of Ronnenberg in the Hanover region in Lower Saxony .

history

After the closure of the Ronnenberg potash plant , which flooded in 1975, the Ronnenberg Heimatbund set up a local history museum in the former canteen in the summer of 1976 under the direction of Bruno Kaleschke . The premises of the building on Gehrdener Straße were soon no longer sufficient for the accumulated exhibits.

On June 17, 1978, the museum opened in a new location. The listed residential building, Über den Beeken 13, a previously vacant urban farm in the center of Ronnenberg, was expanded with a lot of in-house work.

exhibition

The so-called Ratsstube on the ground floor is a “parlor” of a wealthy Calenberg farming family, largely in its original state from the end of the 19th century .

In a large area on the first floor, exhibits on potash mining in Ronnenberg are shown. The museum received the holdings of the miners' association Glück Auf from 1908 Ronnenberg , which was dissolved at the end of 2013 . The good one meter Barbara - statue dates from the 2016 closed Catholic Church Holy Family in the district Empelde .

One exhibition area is dedicated to Ronnenberg's Jewish residents before the Reichskristallnacht 1938 and the forced laborers and refugees in Ronnenberg and the camps in Benthe and Empelde.

There are exhibits on local wildlife and an old classroom with wooden benches and a slate . An eat-in kitchen and household items date from the 1950s.

In the attic there are exhibits from agriculture and partly complete workshop equipment from several trades .

Every now and then there are special exhibitions by amateur artists or on local history topics, as well as readings by authors and events organized by the Heimatbund.

Sponsoring association

Initially, the Heimatbund Ronnenberg operated and administered the local history museum. In October 1985, 45 people founded the Museum Association Stadt Ronnenberg eV Since then, the association has been the sponsor of the museum with a good 200 members in 2018.

Visitors

Many school classes are among the approximately 2200 visitors to the Ronnenberg Local History Museum each year. The museum is open on Sundays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.

For 2019, the Ronnenberg city administration plans to move the district's wedding room from the administrative branch to the local museum building. With the addition of a new stairwell with elevator and the relocation of the main entrance, the building is to become barrier-free.
