Home game series
The abbreviation Heimspiel is the title of a series of management simulations for PCs that deal with sporting topics. It all started on May 26, 2006 Home Game 2006 - The Football Manager . The home game - ice hockey manager 2007 followed on December 8, 2006 and the third PC title Heimspiel - handball manager 2008 appeared on August 30, 2007.

The 2006 World Cup in Germany marked the start of the home game series . Developer Greencode as well as publisher RTL Enterprises and The Games Company brought a practically unchanged new edition of the game Football Manager Fun from 2002 to the market: Heimspiel 2006 - Der Fußballmanager . The then coach of VfL Wolfsburg , Klaus Augenthaler , acted as testimonial .

The player is a manager and a trainer in personal union. As known from the kick-off series , his area of responsibility includes line-up, tactics, transfers, negotiation of advertising and player contracts, stadium expansion and training compilation. Depending on how well you succeed, you get closer to the goal of winning as many titles as possible.
Features
Stadium acoustics and 1,000 teams with 20,000 kickers are integrated into the game. With an editor, the player can create additional teams. It is also possible to intervene in the 3D animated game scenes for the purpose of changing tactics or replacing them. Up to four players can compete against each other in hot seat mode.
criticism
The game portal gamigo considers Heimspiel 2006 - The Football Manager to be "easy to understand and yet extremely fun". The game portal 4players.de considers Heimspiel 2006 - Der Fußballmanager to be a publication to “benefit from the World Cup fever of German players and cash in all the unsuspecting at almost full price”.

At the end of 2006, the second coup for the home game series followed : A new edition of the DEL Ice Hockey Manager 2005 game . The Games Company published the PC game Heimspiel - Eishockeymanager 2007 , developed by Greencode, and also implemented the sports management idea for the fringe sport of ice hockey. Former German national ice hockey player Erich Kühnhackl graced the cover of Heimspiel - Ice Hockey Manager 2007 .

With the official license of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) , original logos, team and player names were incorporated. Twelve European and the important American leagues can be selected by the player. criticism
The PC Games states that the simulation has "a lot of depth". The magazine PC PowerPlay described the game as an unnecessary "new edition-successor mix of the 2005 version." In contrast to the predecessor, however, something has also changed in the game principle. In addition to new areas such as fan care and youth work, the player no longer has to compulsorily view the "bad 3D scenes" thanks to an inserted text mode.

In the course of the 2007 Handball World Cup , developer Greencode and publisher TGC brought out the current PC title in the Heimspiel series at the end of August 2007. For the cover, the German ex-national player Stefan Kretzschmar was hired.

Managerial and coaching duties are back in the hands of the player. Hall expansion, player motivation and youth development expand the range of activities. The post of national coach can also be taken on with a successful career.
Features
By acquiring the official license of the Handball Bundesliga (HBL) , original data could be implemented ingame for all German leagues. There are also twelve other European leagues to choose from. The 3D engine was revised and in addition to the 3D game scenes, the text mode runs in parallel. Variable levels of difficulty, live intervention options, editor and hot seat mode remain.
criticism
The retail version was reprimanded due to poorly researched player data, incorrect playing positions and throwing strengths. However, the problems were resolved with the later update 2.0.
The game portal gamigo honored the sports management simulation with the golden award as the best handball manager. The game magazine PC Games considers the game to be recommendable despite its outdated presentation.
