Hein Schlueter

Hein Schlueter (born June 15, 1903 in Lippramsdorf , Haltern am See , † May 28, 2001 ) was a German author and editor who was particularly committed to promoting the Low German language.

Life

Schlueter was the son of a railway official and grew up in Hörstel . There he later worked as a railway official, from 1939 at the Federal Railway Directorate in Münster.

He appeared as a promoter of the singing and amateur play, especially in the Low German language, so he was involved as a leader of music and folk dance groups and was one of the founders and later director of the Low German Singekrink in Münster . He was also a member of the Niederdeutsche Sprachpflege department at the Westphalian Heimatbund. In 1982 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his special commitment to the Low German language.
