At first, Heiner Kielholz was influenced by art informel and American abstract expressionism, after a brief stormy excursion into object art , conceptual art and Arte Povera am Ziegelrain, he finally turned to quiet, sensitive watercolor painting , which has a consciously chosen, critical distance from urban life represents. On his travels to the Mediterranean, the Balkans and Turkey, he created watercolors of fleeting moments in train stations, big city cafes, in squares and ports. The formats are becoming smaller, the image content more personal. Landscapes, figurative scenes, still lifes are the themes from now on.
