Heiner Pott (* 1954 in Lingen (Ems) ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2000 to 2010 he was Lord Mayor of the Emsland city ​​of Lingen (Ems). From April 2010 to February 2013 he was State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry for Social Affairs, Women, Family, Health and Integration .

Life

Pott's parents had a farm and a restaurant. He graduated from high school in Lingen Georgianum . He studied law in Münster and was then a lawyer in Lingen. In 1986 he became the department head for youth, social affairs, sport and order in the city administration of Lingen , and four years later city director. From 1994 he was head of the environment for the city of Münster.

In the first election as full-time mayor of the city of Lingen on March 12, 2000, he was elected with 67.7 percent of the vote. He took office on May 1, 2000. In this position, he replaced the honorary mayor Ursula Ramelow (CDU), who had held the office since 1995. He won the next election in September 2006 with 65.0 percent of the vote. There was a turnout of 51 percent in both elections. From April 2010 to February 2013 he was State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs under Minister Aygül Özkan (CDU). Heiner Pott has been the association director of the Association of the Housing and Real Estate Industry in Lower Saxony and Bremen (vdw) since June 2013.

He is married and has two daughters and three sons.
