Heini Schaumann

Heinrich (Heini) Schaumann (born February 19, 1916 in Berchtesgaden , † April 2, 1945 near Troppau ) was a German skier and sergeant , most recently in the rank of sergeant major .

life and career

Schaumann was a skier from childhood (alpine disciplines, ski jumping and cross-country skiing). He was a soldier in the Mountain Infantry Regiment 100 in Bad Reichenhall and was a participant in the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1939 in Zakopane . In the military patrol team competition , he won the world championship with Oberleutnant Gaum, Oberjäger Fritz Zängl and Gefreiter Speckbacher.

As a soldier, he took part in the campaigns against Poland, France, Greece, Crete and most recently against Russia during the Second World War. He was awarded the Iron Cross, first and second class.
