Heino Sonnemans

Heino Sonnemans (born September 26, 1940 in Viersen ) is a German Roman Catholic fundamental theologian .

Life

From 1960 to 1972 Sonnemans studied philosophy and theology in Frankfurt am Main / PTH Sankt Georgen , Rome / Pontifical Gregorian University and Bonn . Otto Spülbeck ordained him as a priest in Rome in 1966. After receiving his doctorate in Philosophy at the Gregorian in 1970 on the subject of hope or principle? The philosophy of hope with Gabriel Marcel and Ernst Bloch and the doctorate in 1973 in theology at the Gregoriana with the topic Hope without God? In confrontation with Ernst Bloch , Sonnemans has been diocesan commissioner of the diocese of Aachen for academic pastoral care with the title of pastor since 1975 . From 1975 to 1985 he was a lecturer for border questions between philosophy and theology as well as for systematic theology at the Philosophical Faculty of RWTH Aachen University .

After completing his habilitation in 1983 in fundamental theology and philosophy of religion in Bonn with the subject of soul-immortality-resurrection. On Greek and Christian anthropology and eschatology , Sonnemans was Dean of Studies at the Dormition Abbey from 1985 to 1986 . From 1985 to 1990 he represented professorships in Cologne and Aachen . From 1990 to 1998 he taught as a university professor and holder of the chair for systematic theology in the Philosophical Faculty of RWTH Aachen University.

In 1996 Patriarch Diodoros I appointed Sonnemans Commander of the Greek Orthodox Church. Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. From the winter semester 1996/1997 to the summer semester 1998 he was vice dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at RWTH Aachen University. In the winter semester 1996/1997 he had a research stay in India . From 1998 to 2005 he was Professor of Fundamental Theology, Philosophy of Religion and Theology of Religions at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn .
