Heinrich Adolph Graf von Brühl (born May 19, 1744 ; † February 1, 1778 in Bedra ) was a chamberlain from the Electoral Saxony, governor and governor in Thuringia, director of the "chancellery-based knighthood" of the Freyburg district and owner of the allodial estates Bedra, Schalkendorf, Möckerling and Leyha.

Life

He came from the Thuringian noble family von Brühl and was the son of Friedrich Wilhelm Graf von Brühl and Agnes Elisabeth born. von Thümen. The latter lived as a widow at Bedra Castle in 1779. Heinrich Graf von Brühl was his uncle. The Saxon diplomat and astronomer Hans Moritz Graf von Brühl was his older brother.

Like many members of his family, he started an administrative career in the Electorate of Saxony with the support of Heinrich Graf von Brühl and studied at the University of Leipzig from 1759 . Just one year later he was appointed Chamberlain in Dresden by Elector Friedrich August II of Saxony, who was also King of Poland at the same time . On the occasion of his 19th birthday, Christian Fürchtegott Gellert wrote a poem for Heinrich Adolph Graf von Brühl. Gellert was often a guest at the Bedra estate.

In 1764 he is designated as chief captain in Thuringia.

Heinrich Adolf was married twice. First with Sophie Luise von Kalitsch (* April 18, 1742; † December 15, 1771) and after her death with Christiana Gertrud von Hohenthal (* December 5, 1742; † July 24, 1783). He left five children, of whom Heinrich Ludwig Graf von Brühl (1768-1833) and Henriette Mariane Alicia (1770-1841) reached adulthood. The latter married Ernst Adolf Freiherr von Schmertzing in 1887, and after his death Adolf von der Lühe and moved to Schwerin in Mecklenburg.
