Heinrich Bartels (archaeologist)

Heinrich Bartels (born July 18, 1924 in Pforzheim , † 1969 ) was a German classical archaeologist .

Heinrich Bartels initially studied chemistry at the Berlin University from 1945 , but then switched to Classical Archeology and Ancient History at the Free University of Berlin in 1948 . He was born in 1959/60 with a thesis on the subject of studies on female portraits of the Augustan period. Fulvia, Octavia, Livia, Julia did her doctorate with Friedrich Wilhelm Goethert at the Free University. He then worked as an archaeologist under Emil Kunze for a long time in Olympia . Not only did he prepare a major Olympic exhibition in Munich, but he also did important preparatory work in the research of the Olympics. At the end of his short life he was employed at the Institute for Classical Archeology at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg under Wolfgang Züchner .
