Heinrich Borcke

Heinrich Borcke the black knight († 1497 ) was electoral Brandenburg and ducal Pomeranian councilor.

Life

Heinrich von Borcke was mentioned in a document between 1460 and 1496. He was lord of Labes , Falkenburg (acquired in 1470), in 1493 of Pansin Castle, Barskewitz and Brüsewitz (maybe also of Regenwalde ). He was also called the "black knight" and was one of the outstanding personalities of his family at the end of the Middle Ages.

Heinrich von Borcke was from 1467 to 1472 as councilor and governor of Neumark in the service of Brandenburg . Since 1476 he could be found in the vicinity of the Pomeranian Duke. Bogislaw X. appointed him to his council in 1477. As the “black knight” he was often called in as the first witness in state treaties.

The Pomeranian knighthood also granted him this place of honor when dealing with his own professional affairs. He also worked as a judge and assessor in the feudal court, as he also exercises the office of arbitrator in the various conflicts of the nobility and the cities. He retired in 1496 with Duke Bogislaw X to Jerusalem .
