The Reformed Church in Donat on Schamserberg in Shams is an Evangelical - Reformed church under the monument of the canton of Grisons .

history

The church is first documented in 1463 under the patronage of St. George . At that time the church was always a branch church of St. Martin in Zillis . Donat joined the Reformation in 1530 . From 1627 to 1863 Donat formed a church community with the villages of the lower Schamserberg with their own pastor, since then it has been pastorized from Zillis again.

Furnishing

The tower with a one-story bell chamber, which is attached to the church at the bottom of the valley, has a high pointed helmet over eyelashes . Inside the church, the polygonal pulpit with a sound cover is located in front of the choir on the left. In the center of the choir, which is closed on three sides and separated from the church by a round arch , there is a baptismal font , which also functions as a table for the Lord's Supper .

The pedal-less organ built by Orgelbau Felsberg AG in 1972 has 1 manual and 5 stops. It stands on the gallery above the entrance area.

Church organization

The Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden runs Donat, who is in pastoral community with the other villages of the Schamserberg and with Zillis, as a preaching site within the Colloquium II Schams-Avers-Rheinwald-Moesa .
