Heinrich Delbrück

Heinrich Ludwig Delbrück (born July 16, 1855 in Berlin ; † July 3, 1922 in Toestorf ( Schleswig-Holstein )) was a German lawyer and President of the Imperial Court .

family

He comes from the well-known Delbrück family and was the son of Adelbert Delbrück (1822–1890), co-founder of Deutsche Bank AG. He was married twice, each with daughters of the architect Martin Gropius .

Life

Heinrich Delbrück was appointed magistrate in 1883. In 1888 he was appointed district judge and in 1896 he was appointed district judge. In 1898 he was promoted to the chamber judge at the Berlin Court of Justice . From 1899 he was a secret government councilor and lecturer in the Reich Justice Office . In 1903 he was appointed to the Secret Upper Government Council. From 1913 he worked as a director in the Reich Justice Office, where he became Undersecretary of State in 1917. From January 1, 1920 until his death on July 3, 1922, he was President of the Reichsgericht, although he soon had to limit his activities due to illness. In an obituary it was said that he had distinguished himself through legal acumen, through strictly factual and fair judgments and through great devotion to his legal work.

Delbrück found his final resting place in the Lichterfelde park cemetery .
