Heinrich Dilly

Heinrich Dilly , artist name Heiner Dilly , (born January 8, 1941 in Habelschwerdt , Province of Lower Silesia ; † September 13, 2019 ) was a German art historian , painter and graphic artist .

Career

From 1960 to 1965 Dilly studied painting and graphics at the HfBK Berlin and at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris. In 1966 he was a master class student at the HfbK Berlin and had solo and group exhibitions in Berlin, Freiburg, Munich and Naples, among others.

From 1967 Dilly completed a second degree in art history, history and sociology at the Free University of Berlin . 1977 the doctorate to Dr. phil. with Heinrich Thelen; The title of the dissertation was Art History as an Institution - Studies in the History of a Discipline . 1984 followed his habilitation (studies and materials on the difference between visual history and art history; unpubl.), And he became professor of art history at the University of Stuttgart . Between 1989 and 1996 he was visiting professor and substitute professor at various art history institutes.

From 1995 Dilly was professor for the latest art history and art theory at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Halle . He lived as a professor emeritus in Halle.
