Heinrich Eckardt

Heinrich Eckardt (born March 20, 1877 in Salzungen , † December 20, 1957 in Bad Salzungen ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Eckardt was born the son of a cigar worker. After attending school, he completed an apprenticeship as a tobacco worker. From 1909 to 1929 he worked as a cigar manufacturer in Salzungen.

Eckardt joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) during the time of the German Empire . From 1909 to 1918 he was a member of the state parliament of the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen , from 1919 to 1920 a member of the state parliament in the Free State of Saxony-Meiningen and then until 1923 a member of the regional council there. From 1919 to 1920 he served as State Councilor in the government of the Free State of Saxony-Meiningen. On June 26, 1928 he moved up as a member of the Thuringian state parliament, to which he was a member until 1929.
