Heinrich Ekkehard Wolff
Heinrich Ekkehard Wolff (born August 25, 1944 in Stolp ) is a German Africanist .
Life
After graduating from the Katharineum in Lübeck in 1964, he studied at the University of Hamburg from 1964 to 1972 (major: African linguistics; minor subjects: general linguistics , ethnology ; other subjects: sociology , Finno-Ugric studies ). After receiving his doctorate in Hamburg in 1972 ( Die Verbalphrase des Laamang (Northeast Nigeria). A study on the morphology of Chadic languages ) and his habilitation in 1980 ( A grammar of the Lamang language (Gwàd Làmán) ), he taught there from 1981 to 1983 as a private lecturer in African languages and Cultures and from 1983 to 1994 as Professor of African Languages and Cultures. From 1994 to 2009 he taught at the University of Leipzig as a professor for African studies.
