Heinrich Friedrich of Württemberg-Winnental

Heinrich Friedrich von Württemberg-Winnental (born October 16, 1687 in Stuttgart , † September 27, 1734 in Winnental) was a German Lieutenant General Field Marshal and General of the Cavalry.

His parents were Field Marshal Friedrich Karl von Württemberg-Winnental (1652–1698) and his wife Eleonore Juliane von Brandenburg-Ansbach (1663–1724).

Life

He received his training in Tübingen and Geneva. In 1703 came to the court of Friedrich I (Prussia) in Berlin. He received a commander from the Order of St. John and joined the Dutch army as part of the War of the Spanish Succession . In 1709 he was appointed major general there. During this time he took part in all major battles in the Netherlands such as Jodoigne, Oudenaarde , Mons and Malplaquet . He distinguished himself in 1705 at the siege of Huy and in 1706 in the battle of Ramilliesfrom which he was also wounded. After the war, he entered the imperial service and in 1714 was Oberstfeldwachtmeister, 1715 Colonel for a regiment on foot, 1716 Lieutenant General Field Marshal, 1723 General for the entire Imperial Cavalry.

During the Turkish War from 1716 to 1718 he fought near Temesvar and was wounded in the storming of Peterwardein on August 5, 1716. In 1717 he fought with before Belgrade . At the time of the War of the Polish Succession he was governor in the Duchy of Milan together with Field Marshal Leopold Joseph von Daun . After Daun's failures, he was transferred to the Rhine in 1734, where he fell ill and then died in Winnental.
