Heinrich Göbel (architect)

Heinrich Göbel (born October 7, 1879 in Seilhofen , Dillkreis , † February 26, 1951 in Hamburg ) was a German architect and researcher in the field of picture knitting (tapestries).

After graduating from high school in Giessen, Heinrich Göbel studied architecture at the Technical University of Darmstadt , where he also became a Dr.-Ing. received his doctorate. He then worked as a construction clerk in Hesse, and in 1908 he was appointed government master builder. Around 1910 he became city building officer in Kolberg , where he worked until the end of the war in early March 1945. After the expulsion he settled in Hamburg.

He is best known for his multi-volume work on the history of picture knitting.
