Heinrich Gottlieb Francke

Heinrich Gottlieb Francke (born August 10, 1705 in Teichwitz near Weida / Thuringia, † September 14, 1781 in Leipzig ) was a German lawyer.

Life

After the death of his mother in 1713, Francke was raised by his maternal uncle, Johann Gottlieb Alberti, High Princely Saxon-Weimar Court and Chamber Councilor. There he was taught by various private teachers in school science and history as well as constitutional law.

On October 13, 1724 Francke was matriculated at the University of Leipzig . On December 7, 1726 he received the dignity of a baccalaureus philosophiae et liberalium artium at the philosophical faculty and on February 20, 1727 the magister philosophiae et liberalium artium .

In 1731 the philosophical faculty elected him curator of the Red College and the following year its actuary . In 1732 Francke registered as a candidate in the law faculty and passed the exam there. In 1737 he received the notary's office and permission to assist disputing parties in the electoral and incorporated countries as trustee in court. He practiced the law for a while, but also edited a large number of writings and gave lectures.

On May 2nd, 1748 he received his doctorate and on May 8th, 1748 he became an extraordinary professor of constitutional law.

In 1749, Prince Heinrich von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen awarded him the dignity of Count Palatine. In 1762 he received the full professorship for Aristotelian ethics (morality) and politics from Elector Friedrich August II , whereby he was included in the philosophical faculty for the second time. This elected him several times as procancellor and dean, the senate of the professorial college appointed him for the summer semesters 1773 and 1777 as rector magnificus .

In 1780 he was accepted into the Concilium decemvirorum ("Council of Ten"), which was responsible for economic affairs, especially the supervision of the administration of the university's assets, and retained these offices until his death.

Works

Numerous writings on history, on German Saxon constitutional and feudal law, and teaching for 50 years made him an important constitutional lawyer of his time.
