history

Teichwitz goes back to a Slavic Rundling settlement and was first mentioned in a document in 1267. Before it was mentioned as Teichwitz, this place was called Lasan and was a Vorwerk. Teichwitz was an official village of the Electoral Saxon office of Weida , which fell to the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach after the Congress of Vienna . The irregular field included 1905 307 ha .

Teichwitz has been a member of the Leubatal administrative association since 1991 . On December 31, 2013 this was dissolved and Teichwitz joined the administrative community of Wünschendorf / Elster .

Steffen Wolff (independent) has been the honorary mayor of Teichwitz since the 2016 election. Previous mayors were Erika Schaller from 1994 to 1999 and from 2004 to 2010, Andrea Schröter from 1999 to 2004 and Tobias Voigt from 2010 to 2016.

Municipal council

The municipal council was determined by a majority vote in the local elections on May 25, 2014 . The six members belong to the list of the volunteer fire brigade. The turnout was 67.8%, which is 9.0% p lower than in 2009.
