geography

Geographical location

The municipality of Paitzdorf is located about 15 km east of Gera in the Ronneburg arable and mining area . To the northeast of the core village was the Paitzdorf mining operation of SDAG Wismut . The western sprat flows through the municipality and flows into the Mannichswalder sprat between Posterstein and Nöbdenitz . The highest peaks in the municipality are 317 meters high. The next town is Ronneburg , 3 km northwest.

Adjacent are the town of Ronneburg and the community of Rückersdorf in the district of Greiz and Heukewalde and Posterstein in the district of Altenburger Land .

history

Paitzdorf was first mentioned in a document on April 13, 1290. Under patronage law, the church in the village was assigned to the Cronschwitz monastery in 1302 by Heinrich I, Vogt von Plauen . Even loans legally , the village is up to the Reformation the monastery and the monastery Mildenfurth committed. In 1527 the fiefdom was subordinated to the electoral councilor Anarg von Wildenfels . In 1838 around 40 people from Paitzdorf left their homeland as Old Lutherans for religious reasons and emigrated to America . There they founded together with the Saxon emigrants on the Mississippi River the places Altenburg , Frohna , Wittenberg , Dresden and Paitzdorf, today's Uniontown .

Until 1918 the village belonged to Sachsen-Altenburg and from 1900 it belonged to the district office of Ronneburg . In 1922 it went to the district of Gera .

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Mennsdorf was incorporated. In 1952 Paitzdorf briefly belonged to the Schmölln district , but went to the Gera-Land district in the same year . In 1963 the Paitzdorf windmill, built in 1792, was demolished. The BSV Paitzdorf plays in the 1st district soccer class . The youth soccer team has been actively playing since 2006.

The BSV Paitzdorf also maintains an archery section, which for the first time produced two German champions in 2017: Linda Charlotte Mentzel (hunting bow, female U17, DM Halle in Schwedt) and Michael Hofmann (compound, men, DM Wald in Hornburg). In the north-west of the municipality, the state road L 1081 runs from the federal road 7 and the Ronneburg junction of the A 4 to Seelingstädt-Chursdorf to the B 175 , without touching the built-up town centers. The actual villages are accessed via connecting roads with Rückersdorf , Reust , the industrial area on the L 1081 (formerly Paitzdorfer Straße to Ronneburg), Stolzenberg , Posterstein and Heukewalde . The Piehler bus company takes the 212 Gera – Friedmannsdorf line to both districts on weekdays. The next train station is in Ronneburg, where there are regional express connections to Zwickau , Altenburg and Erfurt - Göttingen .
