history

Caaschwitz was first mentioned in 1191 and on June 21, 1299 in the UB of the Bailiffs of Weida I 298.

During the Thirty Years' War the place was set on fire on January 29, 1637 by imperial soldiers, 19 farms were destroyed.

Today's parish hall was built as a school in 1859, and the Caaschwitz volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1887. In 1954 the place was hit by the flooding of the Weisse Elster, to date it is the highest flood event ever recorded in the place. In 1960 the local farmers were forcibly collectivized in an agricultural production cooperative.

In 2013, the White Elster threatened the site again, and flooding of the site could only just be prevented.

Caaschwitz manor

The manor Caaschwitz was a manor suitable for state assembly . Associated with the possession of the manor was the patrimonial jurisdiction in the form of higher and inheritance jurisdiction over the village of Caaschwitz, the Vorwerk Seifarthsdorf and the inheritance jurisdiction over three farms and three houses in Gleina . The higher jurisdiction was ceded to the state in 1836, the lower jurisdiction abolished on January 1, 1855.

The owners of the Caaschwitz manor had been the von Schauroth family since 1582 , von Friesen since 1813 , von der Planitz since 1814 ( Gustav Adolf von der Planitz ) and since 1857 Nägler.

The coat of arms was approved on December 10, 1993.

Blazon : "In a split and half-split shield, above in green a silver magpie, below in front a green, stylized chestnut leaf in silver, behind a red bricked field."

As a talking element, the Elster in the upper field refers to the Weisse Elster River , which flows through the community and helps determine its development. The green stylized chestnut leaf symbolizes the many chestnut trees in the community. The Kastanienallee is a particular eye-catcher. The bricked field symbolizes the economically important building materials industry. In addition to a lime works, brick production is an important branch of business in the community.

The coat of arms was designed by the heraldist Michael Zapfe .

Sports

In 1967, sports friend Bruno Reuter brought the "BSG Aufbau Caaschwitz" into being. The soccer section was created . But many years before that, sports had been practiced in the Caaschwitz sports club , including gymnastics and table tennis . In 2004 documents emerged that prove the establishment of "TSG Caaschwitz" 100 years ago. For this reason, a 100th anniversary celebration took place at the beginning of autumn 2004. Just one year after the start of football, the team was promoted to the district class and relegated straight away. After the sports field was consecrated in 1970, the miners' tournaments ( Dolomitwerk ) were held annually from 1971 to 1973 . In 1981 BSG Aufbau Caaschwitz welcomed Czech friends from Neurazy to a soccer game. A return visit by the footballers and their families took place a year later and further meetings followed.

Furthermore, sporting and friendly relationships have been cultivated with the soccer club “Traktor Ursprung” from Saxony for over 20 years , which still takes part in the traditional Whitsun soccer tournament today. In the playing years 1982/1983, 1983/1984 and 1984/1985 the Caaschwitz footballers were able to reach the final of the Golden Tractor ( challenge cup ). In the first two game series, the cup stayed in Caaschwitz.

On August 16, 1990, the company sports community became the gymnastics and sports community . After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the club managed to find sponsors who enabled the game to continue. TSG has been a registered association since April 2, 1991. At the annual Whitsun tournaments in 1985, 1986, 1987, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000 and 2003, the players were able to achieve one of the top three places.

The association actively supports the Caaschwitz community in cultural events. The youngest athletes between the ages of seven and 15 held a football tournament between 1994 and 1997 at the home, children's and sports festival.

In 2002, with the help of lottery funds from the State Chancellery and the Ministry of the Interior, the sports ground was expanded by building a football field , in 2003 a volleyball court and in 2004 a basketball court .

At the general meeting in 2004, a proposal by the Silbitzer sports club to merge the two sports clubs was unanimously rejected.
