Endschütz is a municipality in the Thuringian district of Greiz . It belongs to the administrative community Wünschendorf / Elster .
geography
Geographical location
Endschütz is located southeast of Wünschendorf / Elster and east of the White Elster on a plateau. The Fuchsbach flows through the district and there is a village pond in the village. According to the natural division of the State of Thuringia, the municipality is counted in the south-west to the natural area of East Thuringia Slate Mountains – Vogtland and in the north-east to the Saale sandstone slab . The nearest towns are Berga / Elster (3 km south), Weida (4 km west), Ronneburg (6 km north-east) and Gera (city center 7 km north-west).

Neighboring communities are the city of Berga / Elster , Linda b. Weida and Wünschendorf / Elster and the independent city of Gera . Gera is only indirectly adjacent to the district of Falka .

history
Endschütz was first mentioned in documents in 1445.
Endschütz was persecuted by witches in 1568 . The man Nickel Traute got into a witch trial . He was torn with red-hot pliers, wheeled, then burned.
In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the Endschütz manor , built in the 18th century, existed in Endschütz , which was expropriated after 1945 and later became part of the VEG Meilitz. The estate was empty until 1993 and has been renovated since then. Among other things, the Rittergut Endschütz eV association takes care of the property, which was awarded the monument protection prize in 2007.
The church of St. Mary in the center of the village was founded in the 14th century.

In the mayoral election on June 13, 1999, Sylvio Nitschke received the majority of votes with 82.2%. They were re-elected in 2004 (89.5%) and 2010 (74.3%). Heino Vetterlein was elected in 2017 (94.9%).

The village of Endschütz is connected to the surrounding area by road K 117. A municipal road connects Letzendorf to the K 117 and Wolfersdorf . On working days except Saturdays, the bus route 219 Gera – Wünschendorf – Linda – Wolfersdorf of RVG Regionalverkehr Gera / Land runs via Endschütz, Jahresig and Letzendorf. From 1876 to May 29, 1999 the community had a connection to the railway line from Wünschendorf to Werdau . On May 30, 1999, passenger traffic was discontinued. Since then, the next train station has been in Wünschendorf, five kilometers away.
