Wolfersdorf is a district of Berga / Elster in the Greiz district in Thuringia .
location
Wolfersdorf is located east of the Elsterniederung on a cropped high plateau in the Thuringian Slate Mountains . The district is north of Berga / Elster on Landesstraße 2336. Neighboring districts are Wernsdorf and Albersdorf . In this rural area, nature-loving institutions and residents have settled.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1181–1214. The noble family von Wolffersdorff was the landlord of the place from 1240 to 1831 and took the name from him.
Wolfersdorf belonged to the Electorate of Saxony ( Amt Weida in Neustädter Kreis ) until 1815 . Through the Congress of Vienna , the Neustädter Kreis with Wolfersdorf was ceded to the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach , within which the place was assigned to the Neustadt / Orla administrative district in 1850 . With the end of the First World War in 1918 and the subsequent establishment of the Weimar Republic, the place came under the jurisdiction of the Free State of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach, which was founded in the same year . On May 1, 1920, the state of Thuringia was founded, to which Wolfersdorf was affiliated within the Greiz district (since 1922). In the course of the administrative reform in the GDR in 1952, with which countries such as Thuringia were dissolved, the place became part of one of the 15 newly founded government and administrative districts: the district of Gera . It remained in the Greiz district . In lockstep with German reunification on October 3, 1990, Thuringia was re-established as a Free State to which the village has belonged again since then. On March 8, 1994 it was incorporated into Berga / Elster.
Economy and Transport
The Agrar-GmbH Grünes Tal Wolfersdorf Berga / Elster has settled in the district as the successor to the GDR predecessor company. There is also a stud farm that has been awarded the Thuringian Animal Welfare Prize, as well as hotels and other commercial facilities.
Between 1905 and 1998 the place had a breakpoint on the Werdau – Mehltheuer railway line .
