Zickra has been a district of Berga / Elster in the district of Greiz in Thuringia since 1994 , around 100 inhabitants live in the district.

Zickra is located in a south-west gradually rising side valley near Berga / Elster, in which the federal highway 175 has been laid. The Elsterknie near Zickra resulted in a level increase in the terrain due to erosion, which then continues up to the hill. The area of ​​the village, measuring around 200 hectares, is located in the Thuringian Slate Mountains .

history

Belonging to the Berga dominion is documented from 1378, the residents were parish off to Clodra . On March 21, 1920, violent fighting raged within sight of the place, known as the "Battle of Zickra", the Reichswehr units involved in the Kapp Putsch surrendered. In the Zickra restaurant there was an exhibition on local history in the GDR era these fighting. Small medieval finds were made during construction work on the site. Today a new housing estate is attached to the rural town center with a stately 200-year-old horse chestnut tree along the road to Weida.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Dittersdorf was incorporated. In 1974 the community was incorporated into Clodra, which in turn moved to Berga / Elster 20 years later .

Culture

The ARTigani cultural center is the site of regular events, including the Thuringia Jazz Mile , buttons and jewelry are made in a small factory. The Christmas market also traditionally sells its goods here.
