The manor Endschütz is a former manor in Endschütz , Thuringia. The manor house is a registered cultural monument .

history

At the end of the Middle Ages, the estate in Endschütz belonged to the von Wolfersdorf family . The still preserved manor house and the farm buildings were built around 1805, stables and tenant apartments a little later. At that time the manor had a size of 150 to 160 hectares, including fields, forests and other buildings.

In 1869 the last owner of the Wolfersdorf family died. Joseph Reichardt from Kauern came into possession of the property. He sold it in 1897 to the Commerzienrat Karl Heinrich Sieber. His wife was born Elisabeth Hermann from Posterstein Castle near Schmölln . Sieber was a businessman from Ronneburg (Sieber & Heidenreich). The family leased the land to a Mr. Kretschmar and 1912–1924 to the seed breeder Richard Schneider from Selka . Her son Günter Sieber became an actor and moved to Berlin. There he met Marlene Dietrich , whom Endschütz visited on April 2, 1930. After the death of his parents, Günter Sieber initially sold the forest and meadow areas and in 1936 also the buildings. Via Rudolf Vogt, the remnants came to the farmer Erich Fricke from Mosen , who farmed it together with his land belonging to Schloss Mosen until 1945 .

After the Second World War, Fricke was expropriated by the Soviet military administration , the goods in Mosen and Endschütz were divided into settler positions and Mosen Castle was demolished with some outbuildings. In the fall of 1952, Fricke fled to West Berlin with his wife and son. The land was first managed by a local administrator, from 1955 by the LPG Meilitz (Wünschendorf) and from 1970 by the local cooperative plant production department .

After a long period of vacancy since the fall of the Wall, the property was acquired by Susann Schmidt in 2003, who has been gradually renovating and managing it since then. In 2007, Susann Schmidt received the Greiz District Monument Protection Prize for saving the property from further deterioration .
