description

The essentially Gothic hall church with a polygonal end in the east was rebuilt several times, especially in the 17th and 18th centuries. It was renovated for the last time in 1989/90. There are buttresses at all corners of the nave . In the south there is a two-storey extension with a sacristy and patronage box . The roof turret and its curved hood are covered with slate , as is the gable roof over the nave.

The interior has a three-sided gallery , the parapets of which are decorated with folk painting. The parapet panels under the patronage box were created at the same time as the pulpit altar , but were not attached to the east wall until the 20th century. The pulpit altar from the end of the 17th century has an openwork carving. The polygonal pulpit has winding pillars at the corners and carved figures of Christ Salvator and the Evangelists . On the cover there are angels with instruments of passion and the risen Christ . In the choir is a carved altarpiece from around 1500 in Thuringia , which shows Mary with child , three figures of saints and a relief with the death of Mary. In addition, there is a baroque lecture cross in the church , a folk carving with flickering rays around the body and angels at the ends of the cross. An approx. 1 m high carved figure of John the Baptist is the bearer of the baptismal font . In the southern extension is the epitaph of the mayor of Naumburg , Weisse, who died in 1580 , manor of Endschütz.

The organ with a baroque prospect has 10 registers , divided into 2 manuals and a pedal , was built in 1902 by Adam Eifert .
