Heinrich Grymhardt ( Heinrich Grimhart von Westerholt ; † August 12, 1419 in Cologne ) was a priest and official in Cologne.

Life

Heinrich Grymhardt probably came from Westerholt in Vest Recklinghausen , which at that time belonged to the Electorate of Cologne; this is suggested by his well-known nickname “von Westerholt”. He studied in Bologna from 1379 , where he also obtained a lic. decr. PhD . From 1388 to 1389 attorney general in Cologne, he was pastor in Recklinghausen , where he hardly resided, and in 1390 rector of the University of Cologne . Since 1397 canon at St. Andreas (Cologne), he was appointed papal chaplain on May 18, 1398, became canon at St. Severin (Cologne) in 1401, which he renounced in 1419, and 1403 sacri palatii auditor . The Archbishop of Cologne, Friedrich III. von Saar Werden , sent him as envoy to the Council of Pisa in 1409 and later appointed him official, as which he first appeared on July 3, 1414. Grymhardt was also canon at St. Patrokli in Soest and canon of Cologne.
