Heinrich Heger
Heinrich Anton Heger (born September 6, 1832 in Hadersleben , † February 4, 1888 in Munich ) was a German-Danish architectural painter.
Life
Heger, born in Hadersleben near Schleswig, which is currently under Danish administration, studied architectural painting with Heinrich Hansen at the Royal Danish Art Academy in Copenhagen from 1852 to 1856 and specialized in Renaissance interiors. He had his first successes with depictions of the ducal prayer chair in the chapel of Gottorf Castle. A scholarship from the Copenhagen Art Academy enabled him to go on a study trip via Wismar, Lüneburg, Hildesheim, Dresden and Nuremberg to Munich, where from 1858 to 1862 Hermann Dyckan's pupil was at the drawing school for artisans. During this time he created depictions of the Old German House in Hildesheim, the Heilbronn Monastery and the Ulm Minster. 1865 he settled in Kiel and mainly dealt with interior depictions of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. In 1869 the Prussian Ministry of Culture granted him a study trip to the Netherlands and to Belgium, 1871 to Danzig and 1874 to Italy. When he could no longer find a livelihood in Kiel, he moved to Munich in 1875.
He was married to Katharina Sürina (Syrina), geb. Zester (1840-1882). From this marriage came 3 children, Heinrich (* 1867), Rudolf (1868–1948) - he also became a painter - and Anna (* 1876).
His portrait, painted by Hans von Marées in 1861 , is kept in the National Gallery in Berlin.
