Heinrich Homberger
Heinrich Homberger (born July 5, 1806 in Wermatswil , † August 1, 1851 in Bern ) was a Swiss politician . From 1848 until his death he was a member of the National Council.
biography
The son of a wealthy farmer and district court president completed a commercial apprenticeship in Zurich . From 1833 he studied law at the newly opened University of Zurich . From 1843 Homberger worked as a lawyer , in addition he was a freelancer for the Landbote , a newspaper published in Winterthur . During the Sonderbund War of 1847 he held the rank of major , from 1850 that of lieutenant colonel .
Homberger belonged to the left wing of the Liberals and represented extremely radical views. Among his friends was Wilhelm Snell . He sat on the Zurich Grand Council from 1838 , before losing his mandate as a result of the Zurich coup the following year . In October 1848, Homberger ran in the first national council elections and was elected in the third ballot in the Zurich-East constituency. Almost three years later he had a fatal accident after a party among his party friends.
