Heinrich I. (Werle)
Heinrich I, Lord of Werle [-Güstrow] ( murdered around 1245 - October 8, 1291 near Saal ); was Lord of Werle from 1277 to 1281 and Lord of Werle-Güstrow from 1281 to 1291 .
Life
After the death of his father Nicholas I in 1277, Heinrich I ruled over Werle together with his brothers Johann I and Bernhard I. In 1281 it was decided to divide and Heinrich took over the rule of the Werle-Güstrow area. He resided at the still existing Werle Castle . In 1291 he was killed while hunting by his sons. After their father's remarriage, they saw their inheritance threatened. After his death, his sons were disempowered and persecuted by Heinrich's nephew Nicholas II . This took over the government of partial rule and thus united the rule Werle. Heinrich was first married to Rikitsa Birgersdatter (married around 1262) and was married to Mathilde von Braunschweig-Lüneburg in about 1291 .
