Henry II (Vaudémont)
Heinrich II. (* Around 1255 , † 1299 ) was a count of Vaudémont . He was a son of Count Heinrich I and Margarete de la Roche.
Heinrich had been the reign of Vaudémont since 1265 after his father and older brother, Rainald , moved to southern Italy with Karl von Anjou . In 1277 he supported Duke Friedrich III. of Lorraine fighting the Bishop of Metz . After the father and brother died in Italy within a year, Heinrich was able to take over the inheritance in Vaudémont in 1279. When the Sicilian Vespers broke out in 1282 , he and his two younger brothers decided to move to Italy as well, to defend their heritage, the county of Ariano, against the King of Aragón . The three brothers were killed in a naval battle off the coast of Sicily in 1299.
Heinrich was married to Hélisente de Vergy, a daughter of Jean I. de Vergy, from 1280. Your children were:
- Henry III. († 1348), Count of Vaudémont
- Margerete († 1336), ∞ around 1301 with Jean "Boutefeu" de Joinville, son of the chronicler Jean de Joinville
- Johanna († 1347), Abbess of Remiremont
- Isabella, a nun in Soissons
