Heinrich Jakob Heim

Heinrich Jakob Heim (born November 5, 1828 in Gais ; † January 12, 1892 in Wängi ; resident in Gais) was a Reformed Swiss pastor and dean from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Heinrich Jakob Heim was a son of Johann Heinrich Heim . In 1853 he married Elise Alder, daughter of Johann Jakob Alder, partner in a textile trading company in Herisau .

Heim was at the private institute Krüsi in Gais, and at the Pädagogium Basel . Heinrich Jakob Heim studied theology in Zurich from 1847 to 1850 . From 1851 to 1853 he was pastor in Urnäsch and from 1853 to 1889 in Gais. In addition, from 1875 to 1889 he was the first pastor of the Reformed diaspora community in Appenzell . From 1870 to 1877 he was the last dean of the Ausserrhoder State Church . From 1878 to 1885 Heinrich Jakob Heim was President of the Church Council in Appenzell Ausserrhoden. He was a member of the Cantonal School Commission from 1856 to 1887 and of the State School Commission from 1861 to 1889. In these he appeared as an avid supporter of the school system. From 1861 to 1888 he was president of the editorial committee of the Appenzell yearbooks . He was the author of numerous articles in this series and in various other magazines. From 1854 to 1889 he was the founder and first president of the Gais reading society . The enthusiastic gymnast and mountaineer was one of the founders of the Säntis section of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) in 1869 . He presides over it until 1878.
