Heinrich Lang (born April 24, 1838 in Regensburg , † July 8, 1891 in Munich ) was a German horse and battle painter, illustrator and writer.

Life

Between 1855 and 1857 Lang received training from Friedrich Voltz and Franz Adam at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He conducted horse studies in the local veterinary school as well as on stud farms of the Princes of Thurn and Taxis in Regensburg and in Württemberg. He made several trips to Hungary; In 1866, 1867 and 1871 he stayed in Paris. From 1866 to 1868 he took part in the Paris Salon and in 1870/71 in the Franco-German War as a battle painter. He then worked as an illustrator and writer in Munich. In 1883 he married the Austrian landscape painter Tina Blau .
